Termite Identification

Termites are often confused with ants and can vary slightly in size and color. Most measure under ½ inch long and range from pale white to light brown.

Common signs include mud tubes on walls, termite droppings (frass), discarded wings, and wood that appears hollow or damaged. Spotting any of these should prompt a call to a pest professional.

While termites can stay active seasonally in our area, they are most visible in spring during the swarming season, when they leave the colony to start new ones.

Termites are found across the U.S. except in Alaska and are especially active in humid and moist climates where conditions support colony growth.

Termites spread by swarming to create new colonies, especially during warmer months. They can also expand their presence within a home if left undetected.

Termite droppings, or frass, look like small, wood-colored pellets. If you notice these around your home, it’s time to contact a termite control expert.
